A simple, short overview of Flex for completely new Flex developers.

Couple of suggestions:

1. Make a downloadable transcript available.
2. Include an option to turn the background music off.

Thanks

This seems like a basic RIA and and it's one of the first things a new Flex user will see.  If Adobe is to pioneer the RIA industry, its examples should be top of the line.

Suggestions:

  • Option to mute background music.
  • Draw attention to the weak navigation inside the SWF.  It's too easy to abort the presentation using the more numerous HTML navigation buttons.
  • Add a Replay button rather than forcing users to go Back and then Forward.
  • Something indicating that the section is complete would be nice.  Each segment seems to end in an awkward silence.
  • How about an auto-advance feature?

Regarding the item where this presentation purports to compare Flex to other technologies, e.g. to ASP.NET.

You seem to be assuming that the viewer already knows Flex but not the other technologies.  Shouldn't you be assuming the opposite? That the viewer knows the other technologies and wants to know more about Flex?  You should say "Technology X accomplishes Task Y in this manner. Here's how Flex does it: .... " Instead you leave unsaid how Flex does things.
